With small class sizes limited to four students, each swimmer receives focused, one-on-one attention from certified SSI instructors. Baby Swim


BABY AND ME


The Baby & Me program provides an environment where parents/guardians can have an incredible bonding experience with their child while simultaneously teaching them water safety skills and developing their abilities towards being a future swimmer. Lessons are 30 minutes, once weekly.

Prerequisites Final Goals
  • Minimum age 2 months old
  • No other swimming experience is required
  • One parent or guardian is required to be in the water with the child
  • Ten count breath control
  • Assisted back float
  • Climb out of the pool independently
  • Swim three feet or one meter using arms and legs

BABY II 


The Baby Swim II level is an extension of the Baby Swim program that will expand on the skills learned by the younger swimmers and concentrates on independence. The focus for these babies is swimming to a target destination, which can be as short as 3 feet or as far as 20 feet. Lessons are 30 minutes, once weekly.

  • Assisted back float

Level 1


Aquatike I


Aquatike I students are expected to be completely new to swimming with no prior experience or skill. The only requirement is that they are 3 or 4 years old. Upon completing the Aquatike I class, these swimmers will advance to Aquatike II.  Lessons are 30 minutes, once weekly.

Aquatike II


Aquatike II swimmers should be 3 or 4 years old and able to show mastery of all Aquatike I skills before advancing to this class. Upon completing the Aquatike II class, these swimmers will advance to Aquatike III.  Lessons are 30 minutes, once weekly.

  • Swim ten feet with windmill arms

AQUATIKE III


Aquatike III swimmers must be 3 or 4 years old and show mastery of the Aquatike II Final skills before advancing to this class. Once complete, and 5 years old, the Aquatike III swimmers will advance to Beginner II.  Lessons are 30 minutes, once weekly.

  • Independent rollover breathing and resume windmill arms to the destination

Beginner


The only prerequisite for this Beginner class is a minimum age of 5 years old and a maximum age of 15 years old. No prior swimming skills are required. Beginner I classes are separated into two age groups: 5-8 years and 9 years+. After mastering the skills and distance of Beginner, swimmers will promote to Independent I.  Lessons are 30 minutes, once weekly.

  • Swim twenty feet with windmill arms
  • Independent rollover breathing and resume windmill arms to the destination

Independent I


Swimmers entering Independent I should be no younger than 5 years old. They should be able to swim 20 feet using windmill arms, get an independent rollover breath, then resume windmill arms to their target. Swimmers capable of the final goals should advance to Independent II.  Lessons are 30 minutes, once weekly.

  • Independent rollover breathing and resume windmill arms to the destination

Independent II


Swimmers entering Independent II should be no younger than 5 years old. They should be able to demonstrate swimming 40 feet using Windmill Arms and independent rollover breathing. After completion of our last Level I class, swimmers will advance to Intermediate I, the first Level II class. Lessons are 30 minutes, once weekly.

  • At least five years old
  • Swim forty feet with windmill arms
  • Independent rollover breathing and resume windmill arms to the destination
  • Swim forty feet with windmill arms
  • Independent rollover breathing with arm by the ear
  • Swim forty feet using elementary backstroke

Level 2


INTERMEDIATE I

The first of our Level II classes, Intermediate I primarily focuses on learning competitive freestyle and associated drills. Swimmers entering Intermediate I are between the ages of 5 and 15. The prior skills necessary for these swimmers are the same as the final goals for the Independent II class: swim 40ft with Windmill Arms with independent Rollover breathing, as well as Elementary Backstroke for 40ft. Upon completion of the Intermediate I class swimmers will be promoted to Intermediate II. Lessons are 30 minutes, once weekly.

  • Swim forty feet with windmill arms
  • Independent rollover breathing with arm by the ear
  • Swim forty feet using elementary backstroke
  • Swim twenty five meter freestyle using bilateral breathing and flip turns

INTERMEDIATE II


Intermediate II builds upon skills learned in Intermediate I, and primarily focuses on teaching competitive backstroke and its associated drills. Swimmers entering Intermediate II are between the ages of 5 and 15. The prior skills necessary for these swimmers are the same as the final goals for the Intermediate I class: Swim 25M Freestyle using Bilateral Breathing and flip turns. Upon completion of the Intermediate I class swimmers will be promoted to Advanced I. Lessons are 30 minutes, once weekly.


Prerequisites Final Goals
  • Swim twenty five meter freestyle using bilateral breathing and flip turns
  • Swim competitive backstroke with a backstroke flip turn for twenty five meters

ADVANCED I 

Advanced I builds upon the skills taught in the Intermediate levels and primarily focuses on teaching Breaststroke and associated drills. Swimmers in this level should be between the ages of 5 and 15. The prior skills necessary for these swimmers are the same as the final goals for Intermediate II class: Swim Competitive Backstroke with a Backstroke Flip Turn for 25M. Upon completion of this level, swimmers advance to Advanced II. Lessons are 30 minutes, once weekly.

  • Swim competitive backstroke with a backstroke flip turn for 25M
  • Swim freestyle 50M
  • Swim competitive backstroke 50M
  • Swim breaststroke 25M

ADVANCED II

Advanced II is a cumulative type of class. The prerequisites of 50M Freestyle and Backstroke with flip turns and Breaststroke 25M are also included as final goals. Advanced II primarily focuses on teaching Butterfly and associated drills, as well as Individual Medley swimming. Once swimmers have completed this level, they have graduated from our level II classes and should inquire about our Swim Team Prep class. Lessons are 30 minutes, once weekly.

Adult Swim


ADULT I 

Our Adult I level is designed to teach swimmers at least 16 years old to swim in a non-judgemental and encouraging environment. Adult I classes involve the use of floatation aids, breathing aids, vision aids, and propulsion aids to assist swimmers who are just beginning their swim journey. Lessons are 60 minutes, once weekly.

Prerequisites Final Goals
  • At least 16 years old
  • No prior swimming experience required
  • Demonstrate the ability to swim 20 M without equipment using windmill or freestyle arms and rollover breathing
  • Comfortable with a two minute tread
  • Two minute back float
  • Can jump in turn around and grab the wall

ADULT II

Adult II level is for swimmers at least 18 years old. While the primary focus of this class is achieving the final goals of 40M freestyle swim and a 5 minute tread, we offer a host of other bonus skills that can be taught according to the individual's personal goals. Lessons are 60 minutes, once weekly.



Prerequisites Final Goals
  • At least eighteen years old
  • Demonstrate the ability to swim twenty meters without equipment using windmill or freestyle arms and rollover breathing
  • Comfortable with a two minute tread
  • Two minute back float
  • Can jump in turn around and grab the wall
  • Five minute tread without any buoyancy equipment
  • Forty meter freestyle swim
  • Forty meter swim using the elementary backstroke
